JAN DES BOUVRIE
Jan des Bouvrie has been approached for the 'The Glass House Amsterdam' project, with the request to produce designs for the 10 different apartments, in several versions. The aim has always been to use the light optimally and create long lines of sight. This has produced ground plans that that are spacious and light in their design. The apartments have a spacious and luxurious appearance that is unprecedented in Amsterdam.
The name of Jan des Bouvrie is synonymous with elegance, rest and atmosphere. With an apparently simple and clear use of line, he is surprising every time; not only with interiors, furniture and lighting but also with buildings. The name of Jan des Bouvrie stands for a timeless elegance that evokes a feeling intimacy and belonging. His goal is to creating a total concept for the living area.
In 1993, the Jan des Bouvrie design-studio moved from Bussum to the monumental Arsenaal in the Naarden-Vesting, which served as a weapon and munitions depot for years. In the Arsenaal, ideas are specified for new interiors. 'Everything is allowed: an antique cupboard next to a Rietveld-chair, a glass chandelier above a colourfully painted table, as long as the resident feels happy with it', according to Des Bouvrie.
